Senator Chris Gebhard is offering residents the chance to replace their hard-to-read license plates for free. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to noon at Conrad Weiser Middle School in Robesonia.

“I wanted to give people the opportunity to switch out their degraded license plates without having to travel to the DMV and navigate the crowds,” said Gebhard. “Busy families can’t always dedicate an afternoon to something like this, but it’s important we keep our roads safe. My event balances both needs.”

To participate, residents must register by calling Gebhard’s district office at 610-562-3411. Participants should bring the plate they wish to replace, along with valid registration paperwork and a Pennsylvania driver’s license or photo ID.

The new plates will be sent to Gebhard’s Wernersville office for pickup after submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The office is located at 6 W. Penn Ave., 1st Floor, Wernersville.

License plates qualify for replacement if letters or numbers are unrecognizable from 50 feet away, or if they show signs of peeling, blistering, discoloration, or loss of reflectivity.
