A new police cruiser has been added to the Hummelstown Borough Police Department’s fleet. The vehicle, a 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe, was purchased and equipped using an $80,250 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

Senator Patty Kim (D-Dauphin) and Representative Tom Mehaffie (R-Dauphin) were among the first passengers in the new cruiser. Mayor Dave Roeting noted that receiving such grants is beneficial for local finances. “It helps our budget and helps us to not raise local taxes when we get a grant like this,” Roeting said. He also mentioned that adding new resources serves as a morale booster for the department’s eight full-time officers and one part-time officer.

The grant allowed the borough to upgrade its police equipment without increasing taxes for residents.
