State Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin) announced that the 125th District will receive $1.66 million in state grants to support five local improvement projects.
Gratz Borough is set to receive $800,000 from the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF). This funding will be used for pedestrian safety improvements along Market Street and Route 25.
Four other entities have been awarded funds through the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program. Dauphin Borough will get $290,000 to update its wastewater treatment plant, including replacing outdated equipment and wiring. Halifax Area Water and Sewer Authority is receiving $275,000 for a new booster pump station and electrical components. Elizabethville Area Authority has been allocated $200,000 to address frequent water main breaks along Smith Avenue and Main Street by making critical system upgrades. Pillow Borough Authority will use a $100,000 grant to replace the Cold Spring Line.
Kerwin commented on the importance of these investments: “When we focus on improving infrastructure through these grant programs, we are investing in the future success of our communities,” he said. “I am grateful to see these critical dollars come to the 125th District, and I will continue to advocate for future projects in our district.”
The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program provides grants ranging from $30,000 to $500,000 for municipal water-related projects such as construction or repair of water supply systems and sewer systems. The Multimodal Transportation Fund offers grants aimed at economic development while supporting transportation improvements like streetscapes, lighting, sidewalk enhancements, pedestrian safety measures, transit-oriented development initiatives, and maintaining reliable transportation networks throughout Pennsylvania.
