Six organizations in Dauphin County have received grants from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission to support preservation and educational initiatives. The announcement was made by Rep. Tom Mehaffie (R-Dauphin), who noted that these grants are part of a broader distribution across 59 counties for programs not directly funded by other state agencies.

The recipients include the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Museum in South Hanover Township, which will receive $30,000; the Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society, awarded $6,200; the Historical Society of Dauphin County, with $9,000; the National Civil War Museum, receiving $30,000; the M.S. Hershey Foundation for The Hershey Story Museum, granted $40,000; and the Whitaker Center for Science & the Arts, which will receive $50,000.

“These entities are doing important work to ensure our region’s unique history is highlighted and preserved for many years to come,” Mehaffie said. “They offer programs tailored to individual age groups and rely heavily on volunteers who are passionate about serving others.”

Mehaffie also emphasized the efforts of the Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society as it restructures its administrative staff to maximize resources. Established in 1991, this society operates the Hershey History Center and provides interpretive exhibits along with library resources.
