Dauphin County nonprofits Midwest Food Bank and Central PA Food Bank will receive increased support following an expansion of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) in Pennsylvania’s latest state budget, according to Rep. Tom Mehaffie (R-Dauphin).
Midwest Food Bank, located in Lower Swatara Township, has been approved for $55,250 in tax credits. Central PA Food Bank, which is based near Harrisburg, will receive $5.6 million in tax credits.
The NAP provides businesses with tax credits when they donate to nonprofit organizations that work to improve communities. The 2025-26 state budget doubled the program’s funding, raising it to $72 million.
Rep. Mehaffie commented on the expansion: “The organizations benefiting from this program are serving some of the most vulnerable members of our region. I’m thankful we lawmakers were able to recognize their contributions by growing this important program.”
