An event designed to foster interdisciplinary research collaboration between Penn State Harrisburg and Penn State College of Medicine is scheduled for March 4. This initiative aims to support joint efforts through planning and seed grants.
The program, which began last year, is a collaborative effort sponsored by Penn State Harrisburg’s Office of Research and Outreach, alongside the Penn State College of Medicine through the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and the Center for Medical Innovation (CMI).
The Faculty Connect – Hershey + Harrisburg event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the University Conference Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. It will feature over a dozen faculty presentations as well as networking sessions. Interested participants can register online.
The agenda includes check-in at 8:30 a.m., followed by a welcome and funding discussion starting at 9 a.m. Award recipients will present from 9:20 to 10 a.m., with a coffee break scheduled immediately after. Collaboration flash talks are set for 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., concluding with open networking until noon.
This event is part of the Penn State Inter-Campus Health and Medicine Research Program, which provides jointly sponsored seed funding to encourage collaboration among researchers from various disciplines within the two colleges. The goal is to leverage diverse expertise and resources while enhancing research capacity and competitiveness in the region.
Faculty Connect seeks to build partnerships for future planning and seed grant proposals. Last year’s inaugural event brought together more than 100 faculty members and researchers who shared challenges, expertise, and ideas. Following that gathering, four teams received planning and seed grants from both institutions.
