Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center has received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for its knee and hip joint replacement programs. This recognition signifies the medical center’s adherence to performance standards and dedication to enhancing patient outcomes in orthopedic care.
Joseph Frank, president of Penn State Health Lancaster and St. Joseph medical centers, stated, “This certification underscores our commitment to providing safe, comprehensive treatment for our orthopedic patients. It reflects our focus on patient experience, quality and safety and the life-improving orthopedic care we provide right here in Lancaster County.”
The Joint Commission awards certifications to healthcare organizations that offer clinical programs across the continuum of care for knee and hip replacements. Their evaluations consider how organizations utilize clinical outcomes and performance measures to improve care while preparing patients and caregivers for discharge.
