More than 700 student dancers and thousands of volunteers will gather at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center from February 21 to 23 for the annual THON Weekend. This marks the 53rd year of the event, which features a 46-hour dance marathon where participants are not allowed to sit or sleep.
THON is recognized as the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, involving over 16,500 students annually in its mission to fight childhood cancer. The funds raised during THON benefit Four Diamonds, an organization dedicated to conquering childhood cancer. These contributions support children undergoing treatment at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital and their families by providing superior care and comprehensive support. Additionally, the funds aid researchers at Penn State College of Medicine in developing treatments for childhood cancer.
For those interested in following the event remotely, a livestream will be available on THON’s website starting Friday, February 21 at 6 p.m. Live coverage will also be provided by WGAL Channel 8 on Friday at 7 p.m., and WPVI 6abc on Saturday, February 22 at 7 p.m.
Donations are encouraged as they contribute significantly to THON’s success and impact. The total amount raised will be announced at the conclusion of THON Weekend.
