Veterans and active-duty military personnel from the 88th Legislative District are invited to a breakfast event hosted by Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier in Mechanicsburg. The event on May 15 will honor their service, with a focus on the National Guard. It will take place at the First Church of God Community Center, starting at 8 a.m. with doors opening at 7:30 a.m.
Delozier stated, “It’s truly an honor to host this event to pay tribute to veterans and active-duty military personnel in the district.” She added that the event aims to celebrate National Guard soldiers and airmen, who serve both domestically and internationally. “As always, I am looking forward to seeing many familiar faces at this event. It’s a privilege to host this time of fellowship among local veterans and active-duty personnel as we thank them for their service.”
Maj. Gen. John R. Pippy, the 55th adjutant general of Pennsylvania and head of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, will discuss the contributions of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He oversees nearly 18,000 Army and Air National Guard members, 2,500 Commonwealth employees, and various programs for veterans. Pippy has a background in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard with deployments to the Middle East, including Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
State Rep. Joe Kerwin will deliver the keynote speech. Elected in 2020, Kerwin has been instrumental in creating a memorial for Gold Star families. He also serves as a commissioned officer in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and has deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom-Horn of Africa.
