Sen. Kim Ward, a Pennsylvania state legislator, recently shared updates and reminders through her social media account regarding new legislation and seasonal activities in the state.

On September 3, 2025, Ward announced the passage of a law aimed at supporting disabled veterans: “We passed a new law that allows all disabled veterans with a 100% disability determination (permanent or not) to purchase free lifetime fishing licenses with no annual application.”

The following day, September 4, she encouraged residents to enjoy outdoor recreation as fall approaches: “Cooler weather makes it a perfect time to enjoy PA’s beautiful parks and trails. From hiking to biking, explore the best of our commonwealth this fall! Here’s when and where to view the best fall foliage: https://t.co/FZjLw22xVx”

Later on September 4, Ward also issued a safety reminder for motorists as students returned to school: “Students are back in class! Please be extra cautious on the roads — watch for school buses and children walking. Let’s make this school year safe for all.”

Pennsylvania’s legislative action on fishing licenses reflects ongoing efforts by lawmakers to recognize and support military veterans living with disabilities. Free or discounted recreational licenses are one way states seek to honor their service while increasing access to public resources.

As autumn begins in Pennsylvania, officials often highlight opportunities for residents and visitors to experience natural attractions such as state parks and seasonal foliage. The return of students each fall also prompts renewed focus on road safety measures around schools across the state.
