Sen. Kim Ward marked two notable occasions in a series of posts on April 9, 2026. Ward, President Pro Tempore of the Pennsylvania Senate, used her social media platform to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Charlie’s Angels actresses and to recognize National Former POW Recognition Day.
In her first post at 11:25 a.m., Sen. Ward wrote, “Hello? This is Kim.
Congratulations to the Charlie’s Angels actresses on their 50th anniversary! Just like the angels, I am grateful for all of the courageous women in my life who have the resilience to break barriers to serve others.”
Later that day at 4:56 p.m., she turned attention to military service members with another message: “On National Former POW Recognition Day, we honor the service and sacrifice of our nation’s men and women who answered the call to serve and endured unimaginable hardships as prisoners of war. We remain forever grateful for their bravery and sacrifice.”
Ward also posted at 8:38 p.m.: “Did you know? #Senate250 “ The hashtag #Senate250 refers to celebrations marking 250 years since the founding of legislative bodies in some U.S. states, reflecting on historical milestones and civic heritage.
National Former Prisoner of War (POW) Recognition Day is observed annually in the United States on April 9. It honors American service members who were held captive during armed conflicts and recognizes their endurance and sacrifices upon returning home.
Sen. Kim Ward has served as President Pro Tempore since November 2020, making history as both the first woman elected Majority Leader and later President Pro Tempore in Pennsylvania’s state senate.
