Sen. Kim Ward, a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, used her social media platform to highlight key topics relevant to Pennsylvanians in early December 2025.

On December 6, Sen. Ward acknowledged the state’s mining legacy by posting: ” Pennsylvania has a long mining heritage. Today on National Miners Day, we acknowledge the hardworking individuals past and present who contributed to our energy and industrial history.”

The following day, she commented on an upcoming football matchup: “The Steelers take on the Ravens in Baltimore at 1 p.m. HERE WE GO! “ (December 7).

Later that afternoon, Sen. Ward shared a winter safety reminder: ” As winter approaches, PennDOT reminds residents to check emergency kits, prepare vehicles and stay alert for weather conditions. Safe travel benefits all communities.” (December 7).

Pennsylvania’s history is closely tied to coal and mineral extraction industries which have shaped its economic development and community identity over generations. The Pittsburgh Steelers are a major professional sports team based in Pennsylvania with a large statewide following.

As colder months approach, agencies such as PennDOT routinely advise residents to take precautions for safe travel during winter weather conditions.
