Senator Dave McCormick, a U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania and former Army captain, posted a series of statements on social media in early April 2026 addressing national defense, military values, and the recognition of Gold Star families.

On April 5, 2026, McCormick marked Gold Star Spouses Day by stating: “On Gold Star Spouses Day, we honor the extraordinary strength and sacrifice of the husbands and wives who carry on after unimaginable loss. Their courage reflects the very best of America. We stand shoulder to shoulder with Gold Star families today and always.”

Later that day, he commented on international security concerns regarding Iran’s missile capabilities: “The Iranian regime fired a missile 2,500 miles at Diego Garcia. Imagine if that had carried a nuclear warhead. Five presidents warned about this threat. Only @POTUS took action to dismantle it. More work remains, but we’re closer to the end than the beginning.”

On April 6, 2026, McCormick reaffirmed his support for American military principles by posting: “In the United States military, we leave NO American behind “

McCormick’s background includes service as a captain in the 82nd Airborne Division during the First Gulf War and deployments to the Middle East (official website). He grew up in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania as the son of educators and holds degrees from West Point and Princeton University (official website). Before entering politics, he served as CEO of Bridgewater Associates and FreeMarkets and held senior positions in government including under secretary of the Treasury (official website). As senator, he has prioritized energy innovation, border security, national defense policy reforms, crime prevention strategies, competition with global rivals such as Iran, government reform initiatives and strengthening communities (official website).
