Senator Dave McCormick, a U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania and former captain in the 82nd Airborne Division who served in the Middle East during the First Gulf War, recently addressed issues of international cooperation, democracy advocacy, and domestic energy policy in a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On May 4, 2026, McCormick commented on NATO allies’ response to U.S. requests regarding Iran: “America has had Europe’s back for generations. We weren’t asking for troops in Iran, just flyover and refueling rights. Some NATO allies stepped up. Others, like Spain, Italy and Germany, fell short. @POTUS is right to be frustrated.”

The following day, May 5, he expressed support for efforts to secure the release of Jimmy Lai: “I look forward to @POTUS continuing the fight to bring Jimmy Lai home. The United States will always advocate for pro-democracy voices unjustly held hostage by authoritarian regimes.”

Later that same day, McCormick highlighted Pennsylvania’s role in national energy production while criticizing federal regulations: “Pennsylvania has the workers, resources, and know-how to power America for generations. But Washington red tape is holding us back. My NEW bill cuts through it, unlocks American energy, creates good-paying jobs, and gets America building again.”

McCormick’s background includes growing up in Bloomsburg as the son of educators and earning a doctorate in international relations from Princeton University after graduating from West Point (official website). He has also served as CEO of FreeMarkets and Bridgewater Associates and held senior positions at the Treasury Department and National Security Council (official website). As a senator, he focuses on issues such as energy innovation, border security, cost reduction for families and businesses, national defense priorities, crime prevention measures, competition with global rivals like China and Russia, government reform initiatives and community enhancement efforts (official website).
