Senator Dave McCormick, a member of the United States Senate, posted a series of updates on March 11 and 12, 2026, addressing legislative initiatives and international developments.
On March 11, McCormick announced the inclusion of his bill in broader housing legislation. He stated: “Proud to have my bill, the HUD-USDA-VA Interagency Coordination Act, included in the ROAD to Housing Act. My bill would coordinate with @HUDgov, @DeptVetAffairs, and @USDA to break down silos between federal agencies and improve housing program implementation.” (March 11, 2026). The ROAD to Housing Act is designed to address gaps in federal housing programs by encouraging cooperation among key agencies such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Later that day, McCormick turned his attention to energy policy. In a bipartisan effort with Senator Peter Welch, he introduced new legislation aimed at modernizing America’s power infrastructure. He wrote: “Energy demands are rising fast across the U.S. That’s why I am proud to introduce the bipartisan REWIRE Act w/ @SenPeterWelch. This is a critical first step in advancing permitting reform by modernizing our grid and unlocking more power from the lines we already have.” (March 11, 2026). The REWIRE Act seeks to address growing electricity consumption nationwide by updating existing transmission systems and expediting regulatory approvals.
On March 12, McCormick commented on an international financial development involving Syria. He stated: “The Federal Reserve Bank of New York has reactivated Syria’s Central Bank account, which has been suspended since 2011. This is another pivotal step toward advancing Syria’s reintegration into the global financial system and deepening trust and transparency between the U.S. and” (March 12, 2026). The move marks a significant shift after years of sanctions imposed following Syria’s civil conflict beginning in 2011.
These statements come as part of Senator McCormick’s ongoing legislative work on domestic policy issues like housing coordination among federal agencies and energy grid modernization efforts through bipartisan collaboration. Internationally, his remarks reflect changing dynamics in U.S.-Syria relations as restrictions dating back over a decade begin to ease.
