Senator Dave McCormick has recently posted a series of tweets addressing the ongoing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding dispute and its impact on Pennsylvania businesses specializing in security technology.
On March 10, 2026, McCormick criticized Democratic lawmakers for their stance on DHS funding. He wrote, “25 days into a Democrat DHS shutdown, and their refusal to negotiate is just baffling. They’re blocking DHS funding to force ICE reforms—even though reforms to ICE are already in the bill they’re blocking—while security threats to our homeland are rising across the country.”
Later that day, McCormick highlighted the effect of the shutdown on local companies. The current dispute over DHS funding centers around proposed reforms to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which have become a point of contention between parties in Congress. As noted by Senator McCormick, some reforms are already included in the legislation under discussion.
Pennsylvania’s security technology sector includes companies such as Syzygy Integration and ZeroEyes in Conshohocken. These firms employ local residents—including many veterans—and provide services ranging from counter-drone systems for major events like the FIFA World Cup to AI-driven gun detection for schools.
