Senator Dave McCormick, representing Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate, shared updates on his recent activities in Pittsburgh through a series of posts on social media, highlighting visits to local industrial and community organizations.
On July 25, 2025, Senator McCormick posted about a visit with Secretary Turner to the Edgar Thomson Works plant operated by U.S. Steel. He stated, “Great way to start the day with @SecretaryTurner for a tour of the @U_S_Steel Edgar Thomson Works plant. The recent U.S. Steel–Nippon deal is a key step toward reviving American manufacturing—creating good-paying jobs and bringing renewed economic opportunity to communities like”.
The following day, July 26, 2025, McCormick described another visit in Pittsburgh focused on housing and workforce initiatives. He wrote, “.@SecretaryTurner and I were privileged to visit Bedford Dwellings today. The work they are doing alongside @HACP1 to promote affordable homeownership, workforce training, and community development is creating a path to the American Dream for so many in Pittsburgh.”
Later that same day, he highlighted efforts addressing homelessness and addiction recovery: “Perfect way to end the day in Pittsburgh yesterday with @SecretaryTurner. Light of Life Rescue Mission is taking a holistic, faith-based approach to addressing homelessness and addiction — not just by providing housing, but by creating a supportive community focused on recovery”.
Senator McCormick’s posts come amid ongoing discussions about economic revitalization in Pennsylvania’s industrial sectors and increased attention on affordable housing programs within urban areas such as Pittsburgh. U.S. Steel’s partnership with Nippon Steel has been identified as significant for job creation and regional economic growth.
