City Of Harrisburg issued the following announcement on Aug. 31.
Mayor Eric Papenfuse will hold a press conference at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1st, at the MLK City Government Center announcing the Fiordaliza ‘Ana’ White as the new Director of Community Relations and Engagement within the Police Department’s Community Services Division. ‘Ana’ is a Harrisburg native and graduate of Harrisburg High School. She attended Denison University with a Double Major B.A. in Educational Studies and Sociology. She brings a wealth of knowledge around topics of Community Policing, Crisis management/ Public Relations, Strategic Partnership, and Mental Health. She has an extensive background in local community engagement and participation, including her current role as Director of Programming for Bro2Go, Inc., a youth and adult reentry intervention and prevention service.
“Over the past year, I’ve learned that effecting change requires careful listening, building partnerships, and leading conversations that can at times be uncomfortable. Ana brings a wealth of experience at community building, and we are fortunate to have her working for positive change and healing in Harrisburg.”
As a bilingual director, Ana’s role as Director highlights the city’s ongoing efforts towards inclusion when addressing community engagement through collective impact. She will be directing the new CSAs, which have recently been hired and have begun training for their positions.
