State Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier (R-Cumberland) is hosting a free fall document shredding event for residents of the 88th District on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 5-7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Hampden Township Pool in Mechanicsburg.

“The shredding events I host throughout the year are always well attended,” said Delozier. “I enjoy catching up with constituents in line and appreciate the opportunity to provide an important service at no cost."

Delozier emphasized the importance of shredding unneeded documents to protect against scammers and fraudsters who seek personal information such as banking and Social Security numbers. "This year, I also hosted a Scam Jam event for constituents to learn more about identity theft prevention measures, so this shredding event is a great way to put some of the information from that event into action," she added.

The event will have a limit of four boxes and/or bags per household and is restricted to residential customers only, with no businesses allowed. Participants are asked to remove any paper or binder clips before attending; staples are permitted.

Those planning to participate should call Delozier’s district office at 717-761-4665 or RSVP online. The RSVP helps provide a headcount for the shredding company to plan for high capacity. Shredding will be done on-site on a first-come, first-served basis.
