FOIA Request Sent to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024

FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024. As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government, we at DeKalb Times have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) for records pertaining to county vendor payments.

Specifically, we are seeking a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, through September 26, 2024. The requested information includes the name of each vendor, the date of each transaction, a description of each transaction, and the amount paid in each transaction.

As journalists dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We will continue to keep you updated as we work towards providing greater transparency in our local government's financial dealings.
