A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Dauphin County, Pennsylvania on October 7, 2024. The request was made by Dauphin News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In the interest of transparency and accountability, we at Dauphin News requested access to specific public records under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq. The records requested are FOIA logs sent to Dauphin County from January 1, 2024 till October 7, 2024.
The fields requested in these logs include: the requester's name and organization; the content of the request; the date of the request; the date when the request was completed; and the status of the FOIA request.
As a media organization, we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
We await a response from Dauphin County regarding this request and will continue our work in ensuring transparency within local government affairs.
