The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has approved a funding request for the 2023-24 fiscal year, aimed at freezing tuition for students in state-related universities. This decision marks a significant step towards finalizing the state budget, as announced by Representative Sheryl M. Delozier (R-Cumberland).

Delozier stated, "Since June, House Republicans have been standing firm for students and families, demanding a compromise on funding for state-related universities." She emphasized that the recent vote reflects these efforts coming to fruition with the approval of university funding contingent upon a tuition freeze.

In addition to this financial measure, the House passed House Bill 1556 to enhance transparency within state-related universities. Delozier described these actions as victories for students, families, and taxpayers and highlighted them as examples of bipartisan cooperation within the House.

Despite these achievements, Delozier acknowledged ongoing challenges in reforming higher education. She expressed optimism about continued progress: "There is still much work to be done to make positive reforms to higher education," she said. "Future generations of leaders deserve our commitment to improving the higher education system."

As Republican Caucus Administrator for the current legislative session, Delozier joined other Republican leaders in a press conference celebrating this development.
