Rep. Sheryl Delozier of Cumberland County is set to host a car seat safety check event on Thursday, August 31, from 4-7 p.m. The event will take place at Platinum Preowned, located at 6039 Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg.

Certified car seat technicians, South Central PA Highway Safety, and local law enforcement will be present to ensure that child safety seats are properly installed in attendees' vehicles. Parents and caregivers will also receive guidance on correct installation procedures.

"Vehicle accidents are a leading cause of death for children; but having a car seat properly installed can make a lifesaving difference," stated Delozier. "When car seats are properly installed, we know they can drastically reduce the risk of fatal injury. I want to give families in the 88th District the opportunity to be assured their children are protected by properly installed car seats. I hope many people take advantage of the important services at this event."

Research indicates that correctly installed child safety seats can reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers.

According to Pennsylvania law, children under the age of two must be secured in a rear-facing car seat until they exceed the height and weight limits specified by the manufacturer. Children aged four through eight must use an approved booster seat when traveling in a vehicle.

While RSVPs are recommended for those planning to attend the car seat safety check, they are not required.

For further information or to RSVP, individuals can contact Delozier’s district office at 717-761-4665 or visit RepDelozier.com/Events.
