State Representative Joe Kerwin has announced the approval of over $5.3 million in state funding for water and sewer projects in Dauphin County. The Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency within the Department of Community and Economic Development, approved these grants.
The Berrysburg Municipal Authority will receive more than $92,000 to upgrade pump stations and a wastewater treatment plant in Berrysburg Borough. Capitol Region Water is set to receive $3.5 million for the construction of the Paxton Street Interceptor in Harrisburg. Lower Paxton Township will benefit from more than $1.4 million for replacing and rehabilitating sanitary sewer lines, along with an additional $112,000 to retrofit detention basins and a grass-lined swale.
Dauphin Borough will receive over $184,000 for constructing a new sewer main along High Street.
"This grant funding marks a great investment into one of the most important areas of our infrastructure: water," stated Kerwin. "These projects will benefit the people of the 125th Legislative District by ensuring they have clean water." He added that he was pleased to work with Senators Greg Rothman and John DiSanto to secure this funding.
