A grant of $148,255 has been awarded to Greenlight Operation, a nonprofit organization, to support the transportation needs of human trafficking survivors. The funding will be used to purchase vehicles for transporting survivors to various appointments, including counseling and therapy sessions. This announcement was made by the Office of Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin).
The grant is provided through the Commonwealth Financing Authority and is funded by slot machine gaming revenue rather than tax dollars.
Greenlight Operation focuses on combating human trafficking through educational services and offers restoration services to women who have been sex trafficked. The organization plans to open a six-bed home in Dauphin County next year, providing a supportive environment for women rebuilding their lives.
"Adding vehicle transportation to our services will help greatly with appointments, group activities, outreach to additional survivors and even driving lessons," said Jordan Pine, president and CEO of Greenlight Operation. "We’re thankful for Rep. Joe Kerwin’s office’s advocacy in helping to secure this grant that well positions us for the future."
