Senator Chris Gebhard and Representative Jamie Barton have announced that Hamburg Borough in Berks County will receive nearly $67,000 in funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The funds are part of Berks County's share of profits from the Hollywood Morgantown Casino.

Sen. Gebhard expressed his gratitude for collaborating with Rep. Barton to secure these funds, stating, "I am grateful to have worked with Rep. Barton to help secure these funds for Hamburg Borough from Berks County’s share of profits made last year at the Hollywood Morgantown Casino."

Rep. Barton highlighted the benefits of using local gaming funds for public works projects, saying, "It is always exciting when you can offset some of the burden on taxpayers by paying public works projects with funds from the local gaming fund – it really is a win-win opportunity."

The awarded amount of $66,118 will be used by Hamburg Borough to purchase a new tractor for its Public Works Department. This equipment will play a crucial role in maintaining two controlled dams within the stormwater basin, which feature slopes ranging from five to 41 degrees.

This funding comes through the CFA’s Local Share Account (LSA) program, which allocates gaming revenue to support public interest projects across Pennsylvania. The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency under the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to manage economic stimulus initiatives. The distribution of gaming revenue through the CFA and its LSA program is governed by the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act of 2004.
