Cost of college went up for all students at Harrisburg Area Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.7 percent for 2018-19 at Harrisburg Area Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Pennsylvania residents paid $7,935 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $210 more than the $7,725 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 18.9 percent more than residents this year, or $9,435. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 2.3 percent from $9,225 in 2017-18.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Pennsylvania residents.

Data shows 80 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 935 students received grants or scholarships totaling $4.3 million and 920 students took out student loans totaling more than $4.5 million.

Including all undergraduates (18,081), 8,291 students used grants or scholarships totaling $29.4 million, and 8,194 students took out $46.5 million in federal student loans.
