Dauphin County issued the following announcement on Aug. 20.
The Dauphin County Commissioners recently honored Duane Good and congratulated him on his upcoming retirement after 32 years of service with the Upper Dauphin Sentinel.
Duane served as editor of the newspaper, providing coverage of local and national events, including educational stories about happenings impacting communities, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Duane’s coverage of residents – including students’ achievements in sports and academics – were very popular and appreciated by The Sentinel’s devoted readers.
On Aug. 17, Commissioners Mike Pries and Chad Saylor met Duane at the Northern Dauphin Human Services Center and provided him a proclamation from Dauphin County for his “long and accomplished career which yielded him a sterling reputation as a trusted news source.”
“The Sentinel, under Duane’s leadership, offers residents and families a publication they can count on to bring them the good news and the bad news that impact and affect lives,” Commissioner Chair Pries said, after the ceremony.
Part of the proclamation read: “Duane truly put his blood, sweat, and tears into his work, because he cared about the neighborhoods he served.”
Dauphin County Commissioners, departments directors, elected officials, and staff wish Duane well in his retirement and thank him for his selfless commitment to the county.
