Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin) has announced that he will be deploying to East Africa with the soldiers of Task Force Paxton, 2nd Battalion-112th Infantry, 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team. Kerwin, a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, stated that this deployment is in response to the current global security concerns.

Kerwin expressed his honor to serve alongside his fellow soldiers, stating, "With the recent and profound security concerns in our world, the strategic importance of this deployment does not fall lightly on me." He also highlighted the professionalism and rigorous training of the task force, which includes many citizen soldiers from Dauphin County.

While carrying out his military duties, Kerwin assured his constituents that his district offices and Capitol office will remain open and fully functional. He emphasized the continuity of services, thanks to his experienced and dedicated staff. Kerwin stated, "Residents of the 125th District can be assured there will be a complete continuity of services while I am deployed in defense of our nation."

During the deployment, Kerwin will be commanding an infantry company responsible for securing key American assets from terrorist threats in East Africa and the surrounding region. He expressed gratitude for the support received from the community and his fellow soldiers, saying, "National Guardsmen and women do not get to choose when our nation calls upon us to deploy; however, we are always training to be ready for when our country needs us."

House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) commended Kerwin for his dedication to service and pledged to provide all necessary resources to ensure uninterrupted constituent services in the 125th District. Cutler stated, "Joe Kerwin represents the best of Pennsylvania. His life has been dedicated to service and his commitment to this Commonwealth and the United States is inspiring."

The residents of the 125th District can rest assured that their needs will be prioritized during Kerwin's deployment. The Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the House Republican Caucus are committed to supporting Kerwin and his district throughout this mission.

As Kerwin prepares for this several months-long deployment, he expressed his readiness to fulfill the nation's security mission. He stated, "My years of leadership experience and professional military schooling has prepared me to achieve our nation's security mission with my fellow Guardsmen while leading an infantry company in a combat zone."

Rep. Joe Kerwin's deployment serves as a reminder of the sacrifice and dedication of the men and women who serve in the military to protect the nation's interests abroad. The community and his colleagues in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives extend their gratitude and wish Kerwin and his unit a safe and successful deployment.
