State Senator Chris Gebhard | Pennsylvania
Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-48) has announced that over $2.8 million in funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has been awarded for water and sewer projects in the 48th District. The funding will help defray the costs associated with these necessary improvements. Gebhard emphasized the importance of advocating for these types of projects to ensure that the burden of costs is not solely placed on the local municipality.
One of the recipients of this funding is North Cornwall Township, which received $1 million to replace a pumping station on Dairy Road. This project will help enhance the efficiency and reliability of the township's water infrastructure.
Another beneficiary is South Lebanon Township, which was awarded $500,000 to extend its sanitary sewer system. This expansion will allow for improved sanitation services and accommodate the growing needs of the community.
These projects are part of the CFA's Small Water and Sewer (SWS) Program, which provides grants for small water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure projects. Municipalities and municipal authorities that own and maintain public water supplies, sanitary sewers, or stormwater systems are eligible to apply for these grants if their projects exceed a total cost of $30,000.
The H2O PA program, established by the General Assembly in 2008, supports the construction of drinking water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer projects. It also provides funding for flood control projects and the repair or rehabilitation of high-hazard unsafe dams.
The allocation of these funds underscores the commitment of the state government to invest in critical infrastructure projects that improve the quality of life for residents. Sen. Gebhard's efforts in securing this funding will contribute to the development and maintenance of reliable water and sewer systems in the 48th District.
