HARRISBURG – The Borough of Hamburg is set to receive a substantial boost for its community pool, thanks to a $250,000 grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The funding will be used to rehabilitate the Hamburg Community Pool, a popular summer destination located in Etchberger Memorial Park.
The pool, which attracts over 3,500 attendees from Memorial Day to Labor Day, is in need of replastering. With a total project cost of $449,000, this grant will go a long way in ensuring the necessary improvements are made.
State Senator Chris Gebhard, who represents the 48th district, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Etchberger Memorial Park offers families an affordable option for summer outdoor recreation and even a space to have private parties outside public swim hours. But most importantly, it provides a place to learn the lifesaving skill of how to swim. I’m pleased I was able to help secure funding for this valued community resource so residents can continue to enjoy it."
The Borough Council, along with local organizations and community volunteers, has been actively involved in enhancing the park and recognizing the positive impact of recreational opportunities on the quality of life for residents.
The funding for this project was awarded through the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program of the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). This program focuses on allocating funds for the planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation, and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open spaces, parks, and beautification projects.
With this significant funding injection, the Hamburg Community Pool will soon undergo the necessary rehabilitation to ensure its continued enjoyment by the community.
