Grant funding has been allocated to several first responder companies in the 88th District, according to Representative Sheryl Delozier. The PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program has awarded grants to eight fire companies and ambulance squads in the district. These grants, administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner, can be used for construction or renovation, equipment purchases or repairs, and existing debt reduction.

"Our firefighters and EMS personnel work hard every day to serve and protect our municipalities and most of our companies are volunteer-run," said Delozier. "These important funding awards are just one way the state can show its support for our first responders who ensure the safety of local residents through their willingness to serve."

The grants awarded within the 88th District are as follows:

- Hampden Township EMS: $15,000

- Hampden Township Volunteer Fire Co.: $15,000

- New Cumberland Fire Department: $15,395

- New Cumberland EMS: $15,000

- Lower Allen Township EMS: $15,000

- Lower Allen Township Fire Department: $16,368

- Mechanicsburg Volunteer Fire Department: $42,951

- Shiremanstown Fire Co.: $14,034

It is important to note that the funding for these grants comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All funding is derived from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, rather than General Fund tax revenue. The funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of State Fire Commissioner.

This support for first responders is crucial in ensuring they have the necessary resources to carry out their duties effectively. By providing funding for construction, equipment, and debt reduction, the state is acknowledging the invaluable service these first responders provide to their communities.

The grants serve as a testament to the commitment of the state to prioritize the safety and well-being of its residents. Representative Delozier's efforts in securing this funding highlight her dedication to supporting the first responders in the 88th District.

The recipients of these grants can now utilize the funds to enhance their capabilities and continue their vital work in protecting and serving the local residents. The grants will undoubtedly contribute to the overall improvement of emergency response services in the 88th District.

As we face various challenges and emergencies, the importance of well-equipped and well-trained first responders cannot be overstated. The grants provided through the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program are a step towards ensuring the continued readiness and effectiveness of our first responders.
