Sen. Chris Gebhard and Rep. Barry Jozwiak have revealed that nearly $167,000 in Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) funding will be allocated to projects in Berks County. Gebhard expressed his satisfaction with the news, stating, "It is great to see that these projects will receive funding from Berks County’s share of profits made at the Hollywood Morgantown Casino." Jozwiak echoed Gebhard's sentiments, emphasizing the significance of the gaming revenue staying within the local community to support various initiatives.

The funding from the CFA's Local Share Account (LSA) program will be instrumental in financing projects that aim to benefit the public interest in Berks County. These projects will focus on infrastructure improvements, public safety enhancements, and recreational opportunities, ultimately alleviating some of the financial burden on taxpayers.

Established in 2004, the CFA operates as an independent agency under the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, managing the distribution of gaming revenue to support economic stimulus packages. The Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act of 2004 outlines the framework for distributing gaming revenue through the CFA and its LSA program.

The announcement of this funding allocation underscores the commitment of Gebhard and Jozwiak to utilizing gaming revenue to enhance local communities and support vital projects in Berks County.
