Rep. Joe Kerwin's office hosts identity theft prevention events in Pennsylvania

ELIZABETHVILLE – This summer, the Office of Rep. Joe Kerwin is hosting events aimed at aiding Pennsylvanians in safeguarding themselves from identity theft.

Residents of the 125th District are encouraged to securely dispose of documents during shredding events slated for Saturday, June 1, and Saturday, June 8. Participants should bring documents containing sensitive information such as Social Security or bank account numbers.

The industrial shredder can process staples, but attendees are requested to remove paper clips and binder clips. Each household is limited to a maximum of four boxes.

In addition to this, two fraud bingo events have been scheduled to disseminate information about prevalent scams through an engaging game facilitated by the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities.

Details about the events are as follows:

•Document shredding will take place on Saturday, June 1, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Houck Manor Park, 628 Walnut Ave., Harrisburg, opposite Central Dauphin High School.

•Another document shredding event will be held on Saturday, June 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 982 Medical Road, Millersburg. This event is being coordinated with Rep. Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland/Dauphin/Perry).

•Fraud bingo will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Millersburg Senior Center, 109 Edward Drive, Millersburg.

•Another session of fraud bingo will take place on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Houck Manor Park, located at 628 Walnut Ave., Harrisburg.

Currently, Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin) is deployed to the Horn of Africa with Task Force Paxton, 2nd Battalion, 112th Infantry of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. However, his Capitol and district offices remain operational to provide constituent services.
