FOIA Request to Dauphin County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Dauphin News have sent a request for records under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law. Our request is specifically for a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election.

The information requested includes not only the full names of the candidates but also the office they are running for, their jurisdiction, and party affiliation. We believe that this information is crucial for voters to make informed decisions about who they are voting for and why.

In addition to these details, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address. By having access to this information, we can ensure that our coverage is as comprehensive as possible and allows us to provide our readers with the most accurate information.

As a member of the media, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await response from the Dauphin County Election Department regarding our request and will continue striving towards greater transparency in local government affairs.
