“Knives Out” – Community Invited to View Free Film Oct. 21

An Oscar-nominated movie boasting an all-star cast and an almost-unheard-of 99 percent Rotten Tomatoes score is being shown on the Central Penn College (CPC) campus on Friday, Oct. 21, and the community is invited to share in the experience for free.

“Knives Out” is a 2019 American comedy-mystery thriller that has been described as a “killer good time” and “wickedly entertaining.”

“It hurts my brain. It’s that good,” commented another critic.

Directed by Rian Johnson, the film follows a master detective investigating the death of the patriarch of a wealthy, dysfunctional family, played by Christopher Plummer.

The cast also includes Ana de Armas, who is gaining added acclaim for her role as Marilyn Monroe in the biopic “Blonde,” along with Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Chris Evans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and many other stars.

The film will be shown on Oct. 21 in the Capital Blue Cross Theatre, on the campus of CPC, with free gaming stations also available before the show.

A discussion of the film starts at 6:30 p.m., led by assistant professor of English Dr. Flora Ametta, with the movie beginning at 7 p.m.

The film is part of the college’s Annual Film Series and is sponsored by the CPC Esports Team and Gaming Club.
