Senator Camera Bartolotta announced that state funding has been approved for various parks projects in Greene and Washington counties. The grants, totaling $1.2 million, are aimed at enhancing recreational spaces and improving community quality of life.

"Parks provide us the opportunity to engage in healthy habits and recreation, which improves our quality of life and increases our enjoyment. These grants will help to fund projects that will absolutely make our communities better for everyone who calls them home," stated Bartolotta.

In Greene County, Center Township is set to receive $100,000 for the rehabilitation of Center Township Community Park. Planned improvements include building renovations, ADA access enhancements, landscaping, and project signage.

Greene County itself will be allocated $208,100 for further development of Wisecarver Recreation Area in Franklin Township. This includes constructing a loop trail, boardwalk, pedestrian bridge, stormwater management measures along with ADA access and other site improvements.

Washington County will see several developments: Chartiers Township is awarded $240,000 to enhance Arnold Park with renovations such as a baseball field update and new pedestrian walkways; Claysville Borough receives $100,000 for McGuffey Community Park's pickleball courts and play equipment; North Charleroi Borough gains $71,100 for park upgrades including new play equipment; North Franklin Township gets $351,900 to develop Waterside Park featuring courts and lighting installations; Washington City secures $35,000 for updating its recreation plan; West Middletown Borough obtains $97,500 for park enhancements including court renovations.

These funds are distributed through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program which supports public parks' planning and development efforts.
