An illegal alien living in Harrisburg was arrested Friday and charged with arson after police said he set fire to a baby stroller and other items during a dispute with his cousin's partner.
According to Penn Live News, Immer Reyes-Aguilar, 23, was taken into custody after the incident, which occurred at a home on the 1800 block of Rudy Road shortly after 12:30 a.m. Police were alerted by a 911 call from a woman who screamed before abruptly hanging up.
Officers initially responded to the intersection of 18th Street and Rudy Road but were unable to locate anyone.
A family member of the caller later arrived and directed police to the nearby home, where they spoke with the woman who had made the call.
According to the police affidavit, Reyes-Aguilar, who was reportedly intoxicated, became confrontational with his cousin’s partner. The caller, along with her partner and children, locked themselves in a bedroom for safety.
Police said Reyes-Aguilar then set fire to a baby stroller in the living room and ignited a hat and water bottle outside the locked bedroom door.
Reyes-Aguilar, who lived in a third-floor room of the home, was arrested without incident.
He has been charged with one count of arson, one count of causing a catastrophe, and six counts of recklessly endangering another person.
No injuries were reported in the incident, though police have not disclosed the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
Authorities have confirmed Reyes-Aguilar’s unlawful presence in the United States, which could affect his legal proceedings.
Reyes-Aguilar is being held in Dauphin County Prison on $60,000 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 30.
