WASHINGTON – Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) and Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-40), in partnership with Highmark Wholecare, are hosting a 10,000 Step Challenge Wellness Event on Thursday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Peters Township Community Recreation Center. The event aims to promote active living and improving health through interactive demonstrations and information sessions. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with exhibitors about wellness and engage in activities like healthy food choices and blood pressure screening.

Sen. Bartolotta emphasized the importance of preventive health measures, stating, "Most health challenges can be prevented – or at least minimized – with a wellness plan." She added, "As members of the community transition away from working and into a different life stage, it’s a great time to reassess their approach to health. Connecting with medical professionals will help them enjoy their loved ones and hobbies for many years to come."

Rep. Mihalek highlighted the benefits of simple lifestyle changes, saying, "With some simple changes like increasing activity and healthier eating, we can live longer and feel better." She emphasized the event's goal of providing resources for individuals to make positive health choices. Mihalek also expressed the hope that attendees would have an enjoyable experience while learning about health and wellness. "By having a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere, we hope everyone who attends gets a few steps in, learns a little bit and also has a great time," she said.

The 10,000 step challenge will commence on the trail outside the recreation center following the event. Residents interested in attending the Wellness Event are encouraged to contact Bartolotta’s office with any questions.
