Eight first responder companies in Pennsylvania's 88th District have been awarded state grants, as announced by Representative Sheryl Delozier. The funding is part of the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, which is overseen by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC).

The grant program supports projects such as construction or renovation of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, training initiatives, and debt reduction for fire and ambulance companies.

“Our firefighters and EMS providers work hard and make daily sacrifices to serve and protect our municipalities. These companies are also run exclusively by volunteers, who need to make equipment and safety upgrades to continue doing their jobs effectively,” said Delozier. “These grant awards are just one way we show our support for all they do by choosing to answer the call of duty.”

The specific grants within the district include: New Cumberland Fire Department receiving $13,955; New Cumberland EMS with $15,000; Lower Allen Township Fire Department awarded $15,676; Lower Allen Township EMS granted $15,000; Mechanicsburg Volunteer Fire Department receiving $40,322; Hampden Township EMS with a grant of $15,000; Hampden Township Volunteer Fire Co. awarded $16,322; and Shiremanstown Fire Co. receiving $12,448.

To qualify for funding, applicants must meet OSFC requirements and file a grant agreement with OSFC. Inquiries about these grants can be directed to Representative Delozier’s office at 717-761-4665.
