Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier has announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has granted $125,000 to support the development of Smith Drive Park in Hampden Township. The township plans to convert an empty lot at 6205 Smith Drive into a multi-purpose park.

The initial phase of this project will involve site preparation and the construction of various recreational facilities including basketball courts, pickleball courts, a children's "tot lot," a playground, pavilions, and a fitness station.

"The population of Hampden Township is anticipated to grow by double digits by 2040," said Delozier. "As more people move to the area, green spaces to disconnect and enjoy outdoor recreation will become increasingly important."

Delozier expressed her satisfaction with securing these grant funds and looks forward to seeing the park's planned amenities materialize. She added that the currently vacant lot will eventually serve as an excellent space for children and families.

The CFA, which is part of the Department of Community and Economic Development, awarded the funding on Tuesday. For inquiries about this grant or other state-related matters, Delozier’s office can be contacted at 717-761-4665.
