State Senator Camera Bartolotta | Pennsylvania
The Senate Labor and Industry Committee unanimously passed Senate Bill 761, sponsored by Sen. Camera Bartolotta, aimed at improving workforce development programs in Pennsylvania. The bill seeks to enhance the state's workforce by utilizing existing data more effectively and sharing it with local development boards in a timely manner.
Sen. Bartolotta highlighted the importance of sharing data efficiently, stating, "Sharing data more efficiently will give Pennsylvania’s 22 local workforce development boards the opportunity to measure the success and shortcomings of specific programs." She emphasized that this initiative will enable boards to adjust programs to better connect individuals with sustainable employment opportunities while ensuring the responsible use of tax dollars.
The legislation mandates the Department of Labor and Industry and the Center for Workforce Information and Analysis to share collected data on wages, new hires, and unemployment claimants with local workforce development boards. Additionally, the bill includes provisions for technical assistance and support to help boards effectively utilize the shared information.
With the support of the committee, Senate Bill 761 now advances to the full Senate for further consideration. For more information, please contact Katrina Hanna at 717-787-1463.
