Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-48) is inviting residents with hard-to-read license plates to obtain a free replacement at his license plate replacement event on Tuesday, July 9, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Lebanon Valley Exposition Center and Fairgrounds, located at 80 Rocherty Road, Lebanon.
"I wanted to give people the opportunity to switch out their degraded license plates without having to travel to the DMV and navigate the crowds," Gebhard said. "Busy families can’t always dedicate an afternoon to something like this, but it’s important we keep our roads safe. My event balances both needs."
Drivers should bring the license plate they wish to replace, valid registration paperwork, and a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or photo identification card.
Once submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the new replacement plate will arrive at Gebhard’s Lebanon office for pick up. The office is located at 101 Municipal Building, 400 South Eighth St.
License plates are considered damaged and replaceable when letters or numbers are not recognizable from 50 feet away; if the plate is peeling, blistering or discolored; or if the plate has lost its reflectivity.
For pre-registration or more information, residents are encouraged to call Gebhard’s district office at 717-274-6735.
