Senator Camera Bartolotta has announced that the 46th District will receive $700,000 in state grants for road improvements. The funds, awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), are allocated to projects in Greene County and Washington County.
The Greene County Commissioners have been granted $350,000 for the Progress Avenue Redevelopment Project. This project aims to offset costs for offsite traffic improvements on State Route 21 in Franklin Township. As part of this initiative, Greene County plans to introduce its first Chipotle and a second Starbucks. These developments are expected to attract travelers to the area near the current Greene County Airport, necessitating the traffic improvements.
The grant will facilitate the construction of two freestanding buildings and cover site preparation, offsite improvements, and necessary geotechnical, environmental, engineering, and architectural work. Senator Bartolotta stated: “These developments are expected to encourage people to spend their money in Greene County. The restaurants will create between 50 and 70 jobs combined, which will support our local economy.”
Hopewell Township is set to receive another $350,000 for road stabilization efforts on Cherry Road in Washington County due to a landslide issue. The funding will be used for reconstructing and restoring the roadway by installing a soil nail and reinforced shotcrete wall along the outboard slope.
Senator Bartolotta expressed gratitude for securing funding for Cherry Road: “We have been working to secure funding to address the Cherry Road landslide for years. I am especially thankful that the project can finally move forward because the landslide has created unsafe conditions for motorists, including emergency vehicles and school buses.”
The CFA awarded these grants through its Multimodal Transportation Fund aimed at supporting projects that ensure safe and reliable transportation systems across Pennsylvania.
