Grant funding will be allocated to several first responder companies in the 88th District, as announced by Rep. Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland). The funds come from the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program.
Eight companies and ambulance squads within the district have been selected to receive these grants, which are managed by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. The financial support can be utilized for various purposes such as facility upgrades, equipment purchases or repairs, debt reduction, education and public outreach, training, or recruitment and retention.
“Our firefighters and emergency medical service providers make sacrifices daily for our townships and boroughs. Most of our companies are also volunteer run,” said Delozier. “These grants are just one way to show our support for all they do to protect local residents by answering the call of duty.”
The specific grants awarded include $14,563 for New Cumberland Fire Department; $10,000 for New Cumberland EMS; $5,000 for Lower Allen Township EMS; $15,000 for Lower Allen Township Fire Department; $39,773 for Mechanicsburg Volunteer Fire Department; $10,000 for Hampden Township EMS; $15,000 for Hampden Township Volunteer Fire Co.; and $12,843 for Shiremanstown Fire Co.
The funding amounts depend on recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of State Fire Commissioner.
